{What's Going On With Reegan This Week}

Your Baby: Week 23

Turn on the radio and sway to the music {which has been going on during my whole pregnancy.} With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound {about the size of a large mango}, you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

{Birthing Class...CHECK}

We have completed our Prepared Birthing Classes through John C. Lincoln as of this last Sunday. It was a long weekend because we unknowingly signed up for an accelerated course that was 10 hours of learning about baby/birthing and more in one weekend. Ryan was a real trooper (as well as all the other daddies in our class) and endured all the information, graphic videos, breathing exercises, swaddling and much more in good stride. It truly makes me so appreciative that my husband and Reegan’s daddy takes such a BIG interest about every detail of this pregnancy…I already knew he was going to be a PERFECT dad but this proves it even further. We had the opportunity to tour the hospital and rooms that we will be staying in when Reegan is born. The facility and staff on hand seem awesome! I had to laugh after the tour when Ryan said that once in the room that his nerves started to get the best of him. He is worried about the birthing process for me but I assured him that everything will be fine and that babies are born every day. I pray that this is in fact the case but as of right we have been blessed with a great pregnancy so I’m hoping this is an indication of how the birth of our first baby will be.

{Reegan REALLY Loves Raspberries!}

So one of the main questions I have gotten during my pregnancy is "What are you craving?" or "What is your craziest craving?" Well as of late I CAN NOT get enough raspberries....especially in the form of frozen yogurt. This leads me to believe that our daughter will LOVE LOVE LOVE raspberries. I always liked them but strawberries are normally my fav so this raspberry obsession is new to me. Also I have been craving avocado, mac and cheese and Grandma Betty's fried chicken. I burnt myself out on deviled eggs really quickly and learned that I have to pace myself and maybe not eat 10 deviled eggs is one sitting. LOL! My craziest carving was a PB&J with avocado on top but don't worry I settled on eating a buffalo chicken sandwich with avocado instead.

{Reegan Keeps It Classic}

Yay dad! Ryan created a classical/instrumental playlist for me to play for Reegan on our iTouch {thank you to Wayne and Karen for this gift that is getting a lot of use now!} Please comment with any good suggestions for songs to include on her playlist!

{Birthing, Breastfeeding and Baby Class}

Monday was our first breastfeeding class and I am soooo happy we are getting all this information early. There really is quite a lot to the process from what we were told {position, latch, etc. etc.} I feel more prepared and will {crossing my fingers} be very successful with Reegan. The instructor told us first thing, “This is the BEST thing you can do for your child!” It truly makes me feel like a good momma already! It was awesome to have hubby there because he will have to help out during mine and Reegan’s learning phase until we get in sync. Plus there really was SO MUCH INFORMATION that I’m glad he was there to help me remember everything! With my baby brain I need all the help I can get! LOL! Especially because we have over 10 hours of birthing classes coming up this weekend too!

{What's Going On With Reegan This Week}

Your Baby: Week 22
Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

{Reegan Kicks It}

Very excited because today Ryan and Heather were able to feel Reegan kicking in my tummy! What happened was everyone had just left for the grocery store and Reegan started kicking to where I could feel her with my hand. I texted them right away and told them to get home ASAP because the baby was kicking and everyone has been dying to feel her. She was really moving around for me but when they finally got home she had settled down a little. But they were patient and she finally starting moving around again so they both were able to feel her. It was really sweet! Ryan can't wait to feel her more and more as she grows bigger.

{OB Update}

Ryan and I had our 21 week check up yesterday and it looks like everything is GREAT! My doctor seems to not be too worried at all about my Partial Placenta Pervia. We, of course, will be following up with an ultrasound at 28 weeks to see if the placenta has moved to where is should be. I have a feeling that it will be where it needs to be because I feel like Reegan has move a little further up in my tummy. :) The only new development is that I have to have a RhoGam shot because I am O+ blood type and Ryan is A- blood type. An explanation of the issue and the purpose of the shot can be seen below. It's basically for Reegan's safety and also so I don't have any complications with future pregnancies.

Early in your pregnancy your blood will be tested to determine your blood type and your Rh status — that is, whether you have the Rh (Rhesus) factor, a protein that most people have on the surface of their red blood cells. If you do have the Rh factor, as most people do, your status is Rh-positive. (About 85 percent of Caucasians are Rh-positive, as are 90 to 95 percent of African Americans and 98 to 99 percent of Asian Americans.) If you don't have it, you're Rh-negative, and you'll need to take certain precautions during your pregnancy.

If you're Rh-negative, there's a good chance that your blood is incompatible with your baby's blood, which is likely to be Rh-positive. You probably won't know this for sure until the baby is born, but in most cases you have to assume it, just to be safe.

Being "Rh-incompatible" isn't likely to harm you or your baby during this pregnancy, if it's your first. But if your baby's blood leaks into yours (as it can at certain times during pregnancy and at birth), your immune system will start to produce antibodies against this Rh-positive blood. If that happens, you'll become "Rh-sensitized" — and the next time you're pregnant with an Rh-positive baby, those antibodies may attack your baby's blood. Fortunately, you can avoid becoming Rh-sensitized by getting an injection of a drug called Rh immune globulin whenever there's a chance that your blood has been exposed to your baby's blood.
So I am scheduled to get my shot in just over a week. I am not thrilled about it but I definitely want to make sure that Reegan and my future lil Hardings are safe...SO IT IS A MUST! The joy of parenthood, it's all worth it and I thank God everyday for our baby and that we have been blessed with a fairly easy pregnancy.

{My Stylish Bebe - BEautiful BEan}

I totally forgot to share that Reegan's Liberty of London bedding came in on Friday! So excited about it. I mean what other baby will be rocking brands like Liberty and H&M?! LOL! JK!

{Reegan Can Bend It Like Beckham}

So I apparently have a little soccer player in my tummy. Yesterday Reegan was kicking around like crazy which has Ryan pretty excited as he is VERY eager to feel his daughter moving around. She hasn't pulled another "soccer practice" on me since yesterday but I am sure I'm in store for something later on today!

{What's Going On With Reegan This Week}

Your Baby: Week 21

Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work {So Reegan must love all the mac and cheese, avocado, fruit and ice cream I've been eating!} Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

{My Monthly Belly Bump Log}

{See some of the pictures taken this weekend at 20 weeks! Getting noticeably bigger!!!}

{Reegan's Crazy Weekend}

Reegan and I had a very BUSY weekend. From a crawfish bake {YES we actually ate crawfish...but Ryan did all the dirty work of getting the good meat out} to a D-backs game and tons of stuff in between. I'm quickly realizing that Reegan prefers a much slower pace than my busy, fast paced routine....thus the need for 11 hours of sleep last night. LOL! I have officially promised Ryan/daddy that I am no longer cramming in too much stuff as I normally do. I may as well get used to less activities and more time for naps at home now.

However, it was great to see Uncle Sean and Lindsay for the first time since finding out that we are pregnant. Looking forward to seeing them again in June and then hopefully with Reegan {the real deal} after that. Can't believe that as of tomorrow we are official more than halfway done with our pregnancy. ;)

{What's Going On With Reegan This Week}

Your Baby: Week 20

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium {a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells}, which will fill the first diaper after birth {that diaper is ALL RYAN}. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed {And we are, as the Ultrasound Technician says, 100% sure we are having a girl}!

{My Monthly Belly Bump Log}

{See some of the pictures taken at 11 weeks!}

{Halfway There!}

Well we have made it to the 20 weeks mark and I could not be happier! Everything has been going so smooth (some pregger symptoms but still no morning sickness) and Reegan is healthy (as the doctors have said) and perfect in everyway (as Ryan and I say). We are so proud to say that we are the parents of a baby girl that now weighs in at just over 9 oz. but really all we care about is the fact that our baby is TOTALLY HEALTHY. We found out that I have a condition called Placenta Previa that may end up resulting in C-section when it is Reegan's time to join us but I just thank God that He has blessed us with a baby that is right on target with growth and development. She is our beautiful little angel and I can't wait to share her with all of our family and friends a mere 20 weeks from now. Well stayed tuned for more details I promise to keep these posts short and sweet as I am sure we will have ALOT of them.
