{Reegan Makes Her Way Into The World!!!}

Born: August 12, 2010 @ 5:31PM
8 pounds 2 ounces, 21 inches long

Our angel is finally here! She decided to join us on August 12, 2010 at 5:31 PM {on her daddy's birthday only 20 minutes before he was born.} She was two weeks old as of the yesterday and her due date was three days ago on August 24th. So glad that we were able to meet her early!

{On Thursday August 12th}
I woke up at 5:30ishAM and was cramping/contracting. So we called the OB and moved our 4:30PM appointment to 8:15AM. At the appointment Ryan and I found out that I was 3 to 4 cm dilated and the doctor said I was in the early stages of labor and asked if we wanted to go home or go to the hospital. I said that we should go to the hospital because this felt different. When we went to the hospital we found out that I had already dilated to 5 cm. From there it all went pretty fast. We walked around for an hour to get things moving along. At 9AMish we were admitted to John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital. Grandma Janet came to the hospital right away and Aunt Heather was there shortly after. At 1PM the OB came by and broke my water. A few hours later I was 7 cm dilated and got my epidural {and just in the nic of time because I was starting to feel a lot of pain from my contractions}. Before we knew it the time to push had come. Dr. Apigo rushed over from her office and I was pushing before she even go there. Seven pushes and lil Ms. Reegan was welcomed to the world at 5:31PM. She got 9.9 on her Apgar score. Mommy, daddy and auntie were in tears because we were so happy to see our lil angel after the long wait. The first thing that Dr. Apigo said was, "She looks like daddy!" They share a birthday day, they look alike and they are also the same blood type {A+}. And she already listens to daddy because just the day before he had said right into my belly that if she wanted his birthday to be extra special that she would come on August 12th. She did, what a perfect day and the BEST GIFT Ryan/daddy has ever had.

{Hello! My Name Is: Reegan}

SO EXCITED for the hospital/welcome home outfit we ordered for Reegan! It's a simple lil onesie that says Hello! My Name is: Reegan. I like the idea because we did a name tag for the belly photo session and now she will be wearing her own custom name tag she comes into the world! BEST part is that the maker coconutrobot {http://www.etsy.com/shop/coconutrobot} takes a writing sample so the "Reegan" on the tag is my handwriting and the tag snaps on and off for washing so it can be a keepsake for her when she is older. Above you can see a sample of what it will look like but hers will be one of a kind because it will be written in her mommas handwriting and colors will be in light pink, bright pink and lime green like her nursery! Check back soon for pics of Reegan in this outfit! Only 2 weeks left! :)

{What's Going On With Reegan This Week...2!!!}

At 38 weeks your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

{Readying Reegan's Room}

Fun but LONG project! :D We purchased a butterfly/flower chandelier for Reegan's room and of course I decided that it needed a little something extra. I wrapped the silver metal frame in white grosgrain ribbon and WOW what a task that was. But its all done and ready for Reegan to look at now.

Also below are some more pics of her nursery that is READY and WAITING for her.

Enjoy! :)

{OB Update}

Very much looking forward to my OB appointment tomorrow for my weekly check. I found out last Thursday, at 36 weeks, that I was 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced and that Reegan had dropped so much that Dr. Apigo could feel the top of her head with her finger. She said that it is great news because it means my body knows what to do in prep for delivery. I hope to find out tomorrow that I have progressed more and that we are close to having Reegan out here in the world with us!

Dilation: The process of the mouth of the cervix opening and widening, which allows your baby to pass through. This is measured in centimeters. For most of your pregnancy it should be 0 centimeters. In order to deliver your baby your cervix needs to stretch open to 10 centimeters.

Effacment: When you have an exam your provider will tell you that it is anywhere from 0% to 100% which means not effaced at all to completely effaced and thin. When it is completely effaced it becomes a part of the uterine wall, allowing the baby to pass through.

{Big Ol' Button Belly Update}

Not too many more of these left! ;) I thought this would be a fun picture to share with everyone. My belly def hides my feet and I had to lean back for them to show up in the picture. Haha! If this belly seems VERY big just remember that there is a 6.5 pound baby in there. LOL!

{What's Going On With Reegan This Week...3!!!}

At week 37, your pregnancy is considered full term, meaning baby is likely to thrive after birth. Baby spends these last weeks in preparation for the outside world… meaning careful refinement of the blink, suck, inhale and exhale. Meconium, which you’ll probably find in the first diaper, is accumulating in the intestines. If (okay, as) you worry about giving birth, consider what it’s like for the little one. During the journey out of your womb, baby will produce more stress hormones than any other time in life.
